just a thought
by jukesjoker inthis is a question that keeps bugging me, if a non-jw were charming or good looking enough would the jw have a relationship with that non-jw?
or would the jw think it was a test and stick to his or her guns and still reject that person.

Raymond Franz's book is of the experiences of a member(Raymond Franz) of the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witness it explains situations that he went through and how the governing body is run and how all the decisions are made for how jw's will live there life. It doesn't really explain the life of a young jw but it does tell of cases where the rules and so on decided by the governing body affect so many peoples lives. There is some WT literature about what is expected of you when growing up as a jw I think ConcernedMama might actually have it, but i'll search around on my computer for it. I think it comes off the WT library cd?

Hey Jukes nice to hear from you again.
I understand how you feel when you say it's different for you, trust me that's excactly how I felt and thats what I kept telling myself to keep faith in our relationship. I allthough am concerned that you may be interested in becoming a JW?
If this is the case I urge you to consider all things I especially urge you to read Crisis of Conscience I know it may take some time but a decision of this caliber deserves careful thought.
I also know the feeling of thinking you can reach these people I mean we see what appears to be obvious errors and wrong teachings but for people under this control it is very hard to explain and show this. It hurts me so much when I want to show this girl simple errors and moral dillemmas which were the reasons I couldn't convert. And still now after 3 weeks of hardly talking to each other I find it hard to tear myself away from her no doubt we both loved each other with all our hearts and still do, But the pressure to comform and be a faithful servent to Jehovah is in most cases stronger than the love one has for another person. There is no doubt that they will not consider leaving their religion unless they allready have some doubt's allready.
I wish you all the best in the endeavor for this girls heart and I know no matter what anyone tells you are still going to try to win her over. Good luck and may the Lord guide you on this endeavor.

Dude I know how you feel and i'm not just saying that! and if your still wondering about things after reading my post's I urge you to just question, It's one of the most informative ways to learn. Also look out for concernedmama caus I've tipped her off. Let me give you a couple of hints before making any decisions PLEASE!!!! read Crisis of Conscience by Raymond Franz! Specially chapter five, but the whole darn book is very good, but probably not a good idea to mention to this jw that your reading it until you have. And don't try and argue scriptures after reading Crisis of Conscience you will find much bigger probs.
Any more questions please dont hesitate to Message me!
I like many others here just want to help you with our experiences!

When you love something you can't have
by Another Guy inhere's a little post for those who wonder: can i have a relationship with a jw?
firstly don't just read my story and accept it as gospel as this is only one person's story, but i'm sure it's a common one.
this all started a few months ago when i started a relationship with a fellow workmate, lets just call her girl.

Well Gopher it's only my second post but my first post was asking exactly what I just answered!
But it thanks to someone else that I made this post and it's because when I first asked the question if it can work I found I didn't like hearing run, run for your life. Because I was thinking these people don't know her how would they know it's the same situation.
But anyway just got back from church and met up with heaps of friends, and I falling back on the thought now that I believe in something that is right and true and maybe oneday Girl might see that too.

Here's a little post for those who wonder: Can I have a relationship with a JW?
Firstly don't just read my story and accept it as gospel as this is only one person's story, but i'm sure it's a common one.
This all started a few months ago when I started a relationship with a fellow workmate, lets just call her Girl. Now Girl was beginning her life as WT follower and I had been interested in her for quite some time, When I found out that she was a JW instead of giving up I decided to research her beliefs. The more and more I looked into the WT the more and more things I found disturbing, now being brought up in a Christian family I had certain beliefs myself. So instead of stopping there I thought after everything I read that I could actually do something about it, Little did I know that I was terribly wrong. You see I thought I could show Girl what I had discovered about her religion and she would understand. This is not the case and it took me some time and a lot of research from various sources to work out why. Now the following is a very brief explanation and there is a lot more to it than what i'm writing here but, JW's are given beliefs to follow, now firstly they believe there church is the one and true church and all others are wrong, secondly they believe the Governing Body recieves all the guidence from Jehovah and then there are other silly things like celebratons and not associating with "wordly people". Also there is this silly thing that they shouldn't study the bible alone because they may missunderstand the "true" meaning. You will also find that trying to show them evidence contrary to there belief is near impossible, with Girl I was quite lucky I think because she thought I might accept her way.
Very Important don't change what you believe just because you fall in love with someone, Remember your own beliefs and if you make a change consider everything very seriously.
If you want to know why people have such a problem with the Watchtower read Raymond Franz's "Crisis of Conscience" and if your thinking it's such a thick boring looking book read Chapter 5 Tradition and Legalism to start with and I guarantee you will be very interested by the end of the chapter!
Now if your reading this and if you are it's most likely that your finding yourself in the same position. I suggest you seriously consider where your at and where you might want to be, take these couple of points into consideration: Holidays and Celebrations, Birthdays, Marriage ( ooh the "M" word) and Children. Now to tell you the truth it was the marriage side of things and the thought of having children that made us reconsider where we heading.
Now as I said this is very brief but for some this might provide the answer if not I urge you to contact me, just send me a message. I have heaps of info I've collected over the past few months and with my experience allthough only short in this field i'm sure i'd be able to help.
Lastly I would like to say a huge thankyou to all who have supported me through this difficult time especially Concerned mama , because without this help and guidance I could still be following that misleading path of sadness. Thanks !!!

So far we have talked about different topics mainly those listed in Randall Watters - "Opening the Closed Mind" She of course couldn't answer all the questions due to her limited knowledge in the Org. but some she did answer she didnt answer to true WT teachings so i think theres still a chance. She offered for me to ask her the questions that trouble me most and shes also gonna "bring some stuff round to show me" (should be interesting).
If anyones got some helpful advice or good links it would be much appreciated.
Also if anyone knows any ex jw's in Australia eg. support groups etc. this would also be a great help.
Thanks again everyone!
